Course Description

This course expands student ability in contemporary interaction design theory by incorporating the agile design process. Students read about agile design before understanding how interaction design applies to agile work environments. Students use prototyping tools to create their own projects. Credit Hours: 3-0-3

Policies

  1. You have three absences that can be used anytime except for Presentation Days. There’s a 10pt penalty on your overall grade for every absence after the third and/or for missing a Presentation Day. (Open Sessions do not count toward your absences.)
  2. Being more than 5 minutes late to class thrice = 1 absence. Being more than 10 minutes late to a class twice = 1 absence. This starts on January 20th, 2026.
  3. If you miss the class because you’re sick, I'll excuse that absence with written documentation. You’re not allowed to make up missed assignments unless you provide written documentation.
  4. Students are solely responsible for managing their enrollment in class; non-completion doesn’t constitute a withdrawal.
  5. Teams will be the primary communication tool outside of class. You agree to stay updated on tagged communications via Teams. If you need my attention via Teams’ class channels, please @MichaelLahey so I see it. (If you DM me, you don’t need to @ me.)
  6. Use of LLMs are not allowed on work in this class. If caught, you'll receive an immediate zero on that assignment (even the Final Project). Why? Excluding environmental impact (which isn't possible), Prof. Lahey is agnostic on the use of LLMs in certain contexts. That said, he is skeptical of their benefit in an educational context. Why? This is a learning environment, not a chop shop. Why? The error rates on LLMs are high and what happens when you cannot fix or even recognize LLM mistakes? What is your value on the job market then?   7. No student may submit the same, or substantially the same, assignment for credit in this class. You will receive an immediate zero on that assignment.
